Geschichte zur Hymne: 1880 entstand bereits die Melodie zur späteren Hymne " Oh Canada " anlässlich eines Festbanketts in Québec. 1967 wurde diese Hymne als " National Anthem " in französischer Sprache anerkannt. 01.07.1980 wurde die englische Fassung der Hymne verkündet. Komponist: Calixa Lavallée ( später: künstlerischer Leiter des Grand Opera House in New York ). Text: Französisch: Adolphe - Basile Routhier (später: Oberrichter von Québec). Englisch: Robert Stanley Weird ( Dichter; 1908 entstand bereits die Übersetzung, die dann geringfügig geändert angenommen wurde. |
